To Our Tiger Family,
Did you know the referendum plan voters will see this November is not the same one considered last spring? After listening to community feedback, we went back to work. We heard concerns about both cost and scope, and the result is a smaller, more focused plan centered on the needs that can't wait much longer, including safe entrances, aging building systems, improved learning spaces, and room for our students and staff to succeed. The needs remain, but the plan was refined based on what we heard from you–our community.
Did you know voters will see three separate ballot questions on November 3? Question 1 focuses on additions and renovations that address our most immediate facility needs. Question 2 would add physical education and fitness space, and Question 3 would add bus garage space. By separating these questions, voters can consider each investment individually and make informed decisions about the future of our school.
Did you know Nevis students participate in everything from trades programs and robotics competitions to award-winning arts and successful athletics? Our school is more than a building. It's where students learn, grow, compete, create, and prepare for the future. As we look ahead, our goal is to ensure our facilities continue to support the opportunities that make Nevis such a special place to learn and work. One highlight of the plan includes a Career and Technical Education (CTE) addition, which would provide space for programs such as our Boiler Certification and Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
As always, I encourage you to learn more, ask questions, and stay informed. Visit our referendum information website, OurNevisOurFuture.org, to explore the challenges, review the plan, understand the tax impact, and find answers to frequently asked questions. Thank you for being part of this conversation and for your continued support of our district. Early/absentee voting is now available through Monday, Nov. 2, and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Together, we are Nevis. Go, Tigers!
